The Cambridge Rock Festival is run by volunteers, both during the event and for many months in advance, planning, organising, dealing with the press, flyering etc., and does it's best to avoid the commercial feel of many other events. The festival income goes towards meeting the cost of stages, PA, lights, power and fuel, marquees, security, licences, etc etc, not to mention bands although many offer to play for free or for a reduced fee, either to establish themselves or simply because they love what we aim to do! We always allow bands to sell merchandise and keep all the money (not all festivals do that!).

2020 has seem the coronavirus pandemic cause the loss of our normal festival, after we had already spent much of the advance ticket sales money preparing for it - money we won't get back, and as we're honouring those tickets for CRF21, it's also income we won't get this year! Nevertheless we've decided to put on a virtual CRF for everyone's benefit and that has incurred some costs too.
